| Gussie and Sam
on Victoria St. 1885 |
After their marriage in 1884, Here, their first child was born March 20, 1886: Ethel Mary. The family developed a habit of staying only a few years in one home before moving on to the next. | The Marchments
on Yonge St. 1886 |
For a short time they stayed at 717 Yonge
Street, on the north side of the first corner south of Bloor Street.
By 1887 Sam and Gussie were joined by many of Sam's family from England, arriving with job prospects at S.W. Marchment, no less. There was Sam's parents Samuel Jasper and Mary Ann, Sam's brother George T., and brother James W., his wife and six children. So many people arrived that Sam moved everyone up the road to a much larger house with several apartments. There is mention of an older sister to the Marchments named Mary Ann
(same name as her mom), who came to Toronto and married a man named Davis.
No records of this sister have been yet found (2).

In 1891, Sam sold the home at 826 Yonge.
His parents and brother George T. move north of Davenport to 912 Yonge,
brother James moves to McMurrich Street right behind them. All three men
worked at S.W. Marchment & Co., still operating out of 9 Queen St.

typhoid fever at age 68, 12 August 1891.
Gussie's mother Emma and siblings Florence and Albert joined the household
after her other two sisters got married. So, with Marchments moving out
