Middlesex, England; where father was Thomas Marchment, and mother was Ann;[240] married Mary Ann Copeland (see #45), daughter of James Thomas Copeland and Sarah (--?--), 19 Aug 1844 at parish church, Kensington, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where Samuel (22) was a bachelor, labourer, and Mary Ann (18) a spinster. Witnesses were Moses Ditch and Sarah Copeland;[241] died "of typhoid fever... age 68" 12 Aug 1891 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 67;[242] buried at lot 19, sect 32, plot M, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.[243],[244]

Middlesex, England; where Samuel (15) was a servant to William Turpin (25), Charles Gentry (15), servant, was also present.[245] In 1844, Samuel Jasper Marchment and Mary Ann Copeland lived at Early Street, Kensington, London, Co. Middlesex, England, at time of their marriage.[246] In 1849, Samuel Jasper Marchment and Mary Ann Copeland lived at Portland Street, Fulham, London, Co. Middlesex, England, at the birth of Samuel William, and Samuel Jasper was a labourer.[247] He and Mary Ann Copeland appeared on the census of 1851 at 4 Portland Cottages, Fulham, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where Samuel (27) was a labourer in Duckfield, born in Hammersmith. Mary A. (25), Mary A. (4) and Samuel (2) were also present.[248] He and Mary Ann Copeland appeared on the census of 1861 at 8 Worlds End Passage, Chelsea, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where Samuel (39) was a carman, and Mary Ann (37), Mary Ann (14), Samuel W. (12), George D. (10), James W. (5) and Emma (3) were present, all born Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex.[249] He and Mary Ann Copeland appeared on the census of 1871 at Ashley Cottages, Kensington, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where Samuel (48) was a coal porter, Mary A (45), George (19) also a coal porter, James (15), Emma (13), Sarah (4), and boarder James Copeland (77) were present.[250] He and Mary Ann Copeland appeared on the census of 1881 at 81 Latymer Rd., Hammersmith, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where Samuel J. (58) was a general labourer; Mary A. (55) was also present. Both born in Hammersmith, Co. Middlesex. Their son James lived next door at #83.[251],[252] He and Mary Ann Copeland emigrated in 1887 to Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; from England with sons James and George.[253] In 1889, Samuel Jasper Marchment and Mary Ann Copeland lived at 826 Yonge St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, as renters. George and James were present, all were labourers at eldest son's S.W. Marchment & Co.[254] In 1891, Samuel Jasper Marchment and Mary Ann Copeland lived at 912 Yonge St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, George was present and both worked with S.W. Marchment. James had moved out.[255] He and Mary Ann Copeland appeared on the census of 28 Apr 1891 at St. Paul's ward, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; where all recorded as born in England, Samuel J. and George were labourers, only Mary Ann could read and write. George was single.[256] He was ill with typhoid fever 14 days in Aug 1891.[257]

  • iv. George Townsend Marchment; born 21 Jun 1851 at Hammersmith, London, Co. Middlesex, England;[281],[282],[263] died of epilepsy, and more recently neurasthenia (weakness, dizziness and fainting) 17 Sep 1917 at Ontario Hospital for Epileptics (Woodstock), Zorra East Twp., Oxford Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 66.[283]

    He was ill with epilepsy, at age 18 in 1869.[284] He emigrated in 1887 to Toronto, Ontario, Canada; with most of his family.[285] George lived with his parents until his father died in 1891, and his mother remarried in 1897.[286] In 1898, George Townsend Marchment lived at 14 Collier, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[287] In 1899, George Townsend Marchment lived at 64 Cumberland, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[288] Between 1900 and 1902, George Townsend Marchment lived at 36 Scollard, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, with his brother James's family.[289] He appeared on the census of 1901 at Toronto, Ontario, Canada; where George (49, illiterate) and brother James W. (45) were teamsters, and James's wife Susan, and 7 children were also present.[290] He was a teamster, as was his brother James in 1901.[291] Probably after his brother James's death from a fall in 1905, which he witnessed, George was committed to the Epileptic Hospital in Woodstock.[292] He appeared on the census of 1911 at Lot4, Con11, Zorra East Twp., Oxford Co., Ontario, Canada; where George (60) was a patient at the Ontario Hospital for Epileptics at Woodstock.[293],[294]

Middlesex, England;[298],[299],[300],[301] died after being thrown from a wagon 3 Jul 1905 at 513 Preston Ave., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 48;[302],[303] buried 6 Jul 1905 at lot 19, Sect 32, plot M, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[304],[171]

    He and Susan Alice King appeared on the census of 1881 at 83 Latymer Rd., Hammersmith, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where James (25) a coal porter, Susan (26), and Walter J.S. (6), George E. (4), William A. (3), Sidney J. (1), and Sussanah (4 mos.) were present. They were next door to James' father Samuel at #81.[305],[252] He and Susan Alice King emigrated in 1887 to Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; with their extended family from England.[306],[307] In 1891, James Walter Marchment and Susan Alice King lived at 38 McMurrich, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, and was a teamster with S.W. Marchment. Previously James and his family had lived with his parents since coming to Canada.[308] In 1892, James Walter Marchment and Susan Alice King lived at 1040 Dufferin, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, also there were sons James W. jr. and George E.[309] Between 1893 and 1895, James Walter Marchment and Susan Alice King lived at 912 Yonge St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, with sons George E., and James W. jr.[310] Between 1896 and 1897, James Walter Marchment and Susan Alice King lived at 891 Yonge St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, with sons George E., James W. jr., and WIlliam (?).[138] In 1898, James Walter Marchment and Susan Alice King lived at 1 Ellis, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[311] In 1899, James Walter Marchment and Susan Alice King lived at 32 Frichot, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[312] Between 1900 and 1902, James Walter Marchment and Susan Alice King lived at 36 Scollard, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[313] He and Susan Alice King appeared on the census of 1901 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; James W. (45) and brother George (49, illiterate) were teamsters, son Robert (15) was a bread driver. Other children present: Ruth E.(14) , Edith R. (12) , Albert E. (10), Frank E. (8), Elsie M. (5).[314] James died tragically in an accident: "Died From Shock -- James Marchment Was Thrown From His Wagon and Fatally Injured -- James Marchment, teamster, of 513 Preston Avenue, fell off a light delivery wagon last night and died as the result of the shock. With his son, aged 16 years, and his brother, he was driving home when the accident occurred. One of the rear wheels of the wagon slipped into a hole at a crossing and Marchment, the father, was jolted off. He was carried home, where he was attended by Dr. Conboy. Death ensued within a few minutes."[302]

Middlesex, England; where Charles (23) was a plasterer, and Emma (22) a dressmaker.[321] She and Charles Henry Gill emigrated in 1892 to United States of America.[322] She and Charles Henry Gill appeared on the census of 1900 at Ward 23, Buffalo, Erie Co., New York, United States of America; where Charles (39) was a plaster contracter, while Emma (41), Charles W S (20) an apprentice of cement, and Elizabeth R (16) were present.[323] She and Charles Henry Gill appeared on the census of 1910 at Ward 22, Buffalo, Erie Co., United States of America; where Charles (49) had no occupation, Emma (51) was present, as were two boarders Charles Wood (21), and Tolly Sile (68).[324]

  • vii. Sarah Marchment;[325],[325] born circa 1867 at Co. Middlesex, England;[326],[327] married John Victor Parsonson 1883 at Kensington, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where John was a widower with 2 sons;[328],[329] died of chronic heart disease 24 Feb 1894 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada;[330] buried at lot 19, Sect 32, plot M, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, the same plot as her father.[331]

    She and John Victor Parsonson lived in 1885 at Fulham, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where Samuel George was born.[332] She and John Victor Parsonson emigrated in 1886 to Ontario, Canada.[333] She and John Victor Parsonson lived in 1888 at Orillia, Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada; where Henry Nelson was born.[334] In 1892, Sarah Marchment and John Victor Parsonson lived at 194 Symington, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, where Loveilla was born.[335]

Middlesex, England;[340] married Samuel Jasper Marchment (see #44), son of Thomas Marchment and Ann (--?--), 19 Aug 1844 at parish church, Kensington, London, Co. Middlesex, England; where Samuel (22) was a bachelor, labourer, and Mary Ann (18) a spinster. Witnesses were Moses Ditch and Sarah Copeland;[241] married James Weeks 25 Sep 1897 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; James was a lumber man, aged 71 yrs and a widower. Mary Ann was also 71 yrs, and a widow born in London, England to James and Sarah Copeland. George T. Marchment, her son, was witness. The service was Methodist;[341] died of accute bronchitis 31 May 1900 at 614 Yonge St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[342]

Surrey, England;[349] married Emma Martha Balaam (see #47), daughter of Daniel Balaam and Mary Harvey, 29 Jun 1861 at St. Botolph Bishopgate, London, England; after banns, where Joseph (28) was a bachelor, a joiner by trade, Emma was 22, and witnesses were Albert Judd and Mary Frances Balaam;[350] died of "general paresis... age 50" 27 Jun 1885 at Rockwood Asylum, Portsmouth, Frontenac Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 53;[351],[352] buried after 27 Jun 1885 at Cataraqui Cemetery, Cataraqui, Frontenac Co., Ontario, Canada.[353]

    In 1861, Joseph Edmund Judd lived at 41 Bishopgate St., London, England, at his marriage.[354] In 1865, Joseph Edmund Judd and Emma Martha Balaam lived at 8 Moselle Street, Tottenham, London, Co. Middlesex, England, at the birth of daughter Augusta, where Joseph was a carpenter.[355] He and Emma Martha Balaam emigrated in 1869 to Ontario, Canada.[356],[357],[358] He and Emma Martha Balaam appeared on the census of 1871 at St. John's Ward, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; Jospeh was a carpenter, Baptist, renting, with no livestock or property.[359] From 1871 to 1872, Joseph Edmund Judd and Emma Martha Balaam lived at 558 Yonge Street, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, Joseph was a carpenter and Emma a dress maker (the address is now 618 Yonge St. : Carrington's Sports Bar -- South/West corner of Yonge and St. Joseph Sts).[360] From 1873 to 1877, Joseph Edmund Judd and Emma Martha Balaam lived at 582 Yonge Street, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, Joseph was a carpenter and also a confectioner (now 634/636 Yonge St).[361] In 1878, Joseph Edmund Judd and Emma Martha Balaam lived at 590 Yonge Street, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, (650/652 Yonge St today).[362] He and Emma Martha Balaam appeared on the census of 1881 at Yorkdale, York Co., Ontario, Canada; Joseph was a carpenter, and daughter Augusta was a servant.[363] He was ill with general paresis from 1882 to 1884 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[364] From 1882 to 1884, Joseph Edmund Judd and Emma Martha Balaam lived at 49 Hayden St., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; Joseph was employed by H. A. Schomberg & Co. at the same address.[365] Between 9 Jul 1884 and Jun 1885, Joseph Edmund Judd lived at Rockwood Asylum, Portsmouth, Frontenac Co., Ontario, Canada, where Joseph was judged insane and diagnosed with general paresis.[366] It was later said that Joseph was a sailor, and died at sea. His true history was not re-discovered until more than a century after his death.[367]

      It does not appear that Emma and John had any children.[373],[374] She lived in 1955 at California, United States of America.[375]

Bertha Louise Judd; born 29 May 1874 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada;[369],[376],[377] married William John McCormack 30 Jul 1891 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; where McCormack was a cabinet maker, and Presbyterian;[378] died 24 Apr 1955 at St. Petersburg, Florida, United States of America, at age 80.[379],[380]

      She and William John McCormack appeared on the census of 1901 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; where William (37) merchant and Presbyterian, Bertha (27), Olive (7), William (3), Thomas H (42) a salesman and the elder WIlliam's brother, were present.[381]

    • iv. Florence Isobella Judd; born 14 Jan 1877 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada;[382],[383],[369] married James A Connor 27 May 1903 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; where James was a boiler maker;[384] died 27 Feb 1973 at Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at age 96.[371]

      Between 1896 and 1899, Florence Isobella Judd lived at 259 Queen St. E., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, as a knitter at Universal KM Company.[385] In 1903, Florence Isobella Judd lived at 23 Regent, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, as a seamstress.[386] Between 1909 and 1914, Florence Isobella Judd and James A Connor lived at 72 Jones Ave., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[387] She and James A Connor appeared on the census of 1911 at 72 Jones Ave., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; where James (33) an engineer employed on a steam boat, Florence (33), Albert (5), Harvey (3), Ernest (11 mo.), Benjamin (52) James' father, and Emma Judd (72) Florence's mother, were present.[388] Between 1915 and 1917, Florence Isobella Judd and James A Connor lived at 82 Jones Ave., Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[389] She lived in 1955 at Toronto, Ontario, Canada.[380]

      Albert lived with his mother Emma in several different addresses, working as a "tinner" or can maker. He worked for F. X. Boehler and the Toronto Can Company from 1893 to 1901.[136] In 1900, Albert Edmund Judd and Elizabeth Glory Beatty lived at 39 Oak, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[393] In 1901, Albert Edmund Judd and Elizabeth Glory Beatty lived at 113 Peter St, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada.[394] He and Elizabeth Glory Beatty appeared on the census of 1901 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada; where Albert (21)was a tinsmith and Lizzie (20) was present. Both were Methodist.[395] Between 1902 and 1903, Albert Edmund Judd and Elizabeth Glory Beatty lived at 32 & 29 Blevins Place, Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada, as a tinsmith with Macdonald Manufacturing.[396] No children were born to Albert and Elizabeth.[397]

Ardleigh Essex, daughter Emma (21), b. Tottenham Middlesex, were present.[406] In 1865, Emma Martha Balaam and Joseph Edmund Judd lived at 8 Moselle Street, Tottenham, London, Co.
